Fiction

I've been writing fiction for more than a decade. Over that time, I've written many aborted stories, some of them novel length. Here you will find many ideas half-baked, as well as a few of my current projects. The process of converting documents to html-friendly text is an arduous one. However, if you have any requests drop an email, and we may be able to expedite your wish.

Finished Projects

Title Synopsis
a small miracle Written during a creative writing seminar in 2004. It is entirely the loneliest thing I've ever written.
I am old This piece was written in, I think, 2003, for an assignment about the end of your life. It cost me a relationship, but found me a focus.

Fan Fiction

These are stories or scripts using characters whose copyrights I do not own and do not have permission to use. Obviously, all rights are reserved to these respective creators. But that doesn't mean we can't have a little harmless fun along the way.

Title Status Synopsis
supermen. On hiatus while I focus on projects I can actually publish someday. For anyone familiar with superheroes, this is an Elseworlds where the DC universe starts during the First World War. For everyone else, it's Batman vs. the Kaiser, then Superman vs. Hitler. Bar none the most thoroughly researched thing I've ever written, and more epic than a non-lobotomized man should have undertaken. If I get enough feedback on it, or any interest from DC editorial, I may continue work on it, but at current it sits at 36 thousand words, and is only halfway done. I’m working through the third draft as I post it, one section at a time. Expect the first chapter up by the end of August.
Hellblazer: Spirits of Japan I live in hope This was a script I wrote for a friend of mine to draw on the 60th anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bomb. It involves John Constantine, the titular character from Vertigo's Hellblazer, cleaning up the damaged specters left behind. It was my first attempt at comic script work, but I'm very proud of it, nonetheless.

Current Projects

Title Status Synopsis
Fall In process. This is, stupidly enough, my fall project. Part of what's kept this book from being written for so long is that it feels like fall to me. I've had an incredibly difficult time trying to force summer and spring on the novel, so I've been writing it in fits during fall and winter. This is only the prologue. It's about a boy who becomes a hero when he learns to stop hating himself.
DOP In process, tied to December vacation. The Disney Obsession Project. The less said about the DOP, the better. Because someone might try to do something sane. Like stop me from writing it.

Languishing Projects

These are projects that, for one reason or another, are currently floating upside down.

Title Status Synopsis
MindTrip Orphaned 2004 saw the completion of my first novel. However, like most first novels, it would have required massive butchering to make it palatable, and I believe it was best to see it as a learning experience, and leave it on the cutting room floor. For your perusal, I'll give you a few sample chapters.
Prologue
Chapter One: Routine Paperwork
Chapter Two: The Boulder
Chapter Three: Dreamescape
a book. Up to Phil A book. Phil wrote it, but I think my contribution more than warrants it's inclusion here. It was a post-break-up purge novel written in early 2005. Neither of us have read it since then, and we're both curious how well it's stood up. But until we can agree on editing it, all that will be posted is the Foreward and Introduction.
