Cover

I had always pictured the cover to just be a lonely street sign on a dark street. It became a much more arduous thing getting that image right. This cover just felt wrong.

This was an experiment, based upon a suggestion from a filmmaker friend named Jake. It wasn't that it was a bad cover, but I agreed with Gio that it just wasn't the right fit for Do. Fir.

One of the most enduring images from the September 11th tragedy in my mind, which seemed to have some crossover to the story, was the hundreds of missing signs and cardboard memorials posted all around Ground Zero. This was almost there.

Following a very crude and rudimentary Paintshop "sketch" I sent Gio, this is what came back. We were there.

I really like where we landed on the cover- and to Gio's credit, he never once called me anything horrible for waffling along the way.

The final cover, beautiful, as if any of you had any doubt.
